Gilmour to release Barrett tribute tracks

Comments

Pink Floyd man David Gilmour is set to release a three-track single to commemorate the life of the man he replaced in the band, Syd Barrett, who passed away in July this year.

The single will feature two versions of Barrett classic Arnold Layne, the band’s first single, one version featuring David Bowie, and the other featuring Floyd member Richard Wright, both recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall in May of this year.

The third track will be an acoustic performance of Dark Globe, recorded live at one of David’s Summer European shows; it marks the first time that David Gilmour has performed Dark Globe, one of the classic tracks from Barrett’s first solo album, The Madcap Laughs.

The single will be released in digital format on Christmas Day (25 December) and in the shops on Boxing Day (26 December) in 7” vinyl and CD formats.
