George Michael "unfit to drive"

Metropolitan Police have charged George Michael with being “unfit to drive” following an incident two months ago, when the singer was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs. Michael received a caution for possessing cannabis, but the BBC reports that he was been charged with the driving offence just before Christmas and will appear at Brent Magistrates’ court on 11 January.

The incident took place in October, when police were called to a car that was obstructing a set of traffic lights in Cricklewood, North London. They found the 43-year-old singer slumped asleep at the wheel of his car and cautioned for possession of cannabis. A similar incident occurred in February at Hyde Park Corner and Michael has since gone on the record as saying cannabis kept him “sane and happy” in an interview for The South Bank Show.
