Want to be a record breaker?

Calling all "proficient" guitarists: if you can play Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water then you can apply to take part in a world record attempt on Sunday 18 February.

As part of the Harrods Rocks event, the store is recruiting 2000 guitarists (acoustic or electric) to play the riff-heavy classic at the same time to beat the Canada-set record of most guitarists playing together at the same time. Canada managed 1322 in Vancouver back in 1994 but if you want to beat that record, then click here to apply.

As the sound of 2000 guitarists is likely to be on the heavy side, all those taking part will get a set of ear plugs, and will leave with a commemorative plectrum and T-shirt, the chance to win an electric guitar and other spot prizes on the day, and hopefully an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.

What song would you choose for 2000 guitarists to play?

I'd like the guitarists to play second fiddle to ultra rich harrods getting their name in the book for doing sod all and then not paying for it. oh, hang on...
