Top-notch Americana... from Bolton

We're convinced Cherry Ghost, aka Bolton-based singer-songwriter Simon Aldred, is about to become a very big deal. Having appeared on Later With Jools Holland before even releasing a single, his debut release, Mathematics, went straight to the top of playlists across the board, from Radio 2 to XFM.

Combining the classic, alt-country vibe of Wilco with an anthemic edge reminiscent of The Verve, Cherry Ghost's debut album, due in July, is a passionate, emotive affair.

Exclusive to Q, here is a sneak preview of its lush opening track, Thirst For Romance.

Nice - looking forward to hearing the album now.

"I've seen demons dancing across factory floors." Is that what he's singing? Great lyric if so.

Not as good as mathematics, but still - love the guy's voice.
