New to Q: The Rumble Strips

"Like The Clash, but using brass instruments instead." That's how London quartet The Rumble Strips describe their sound (to which one might reply, What about parping Clash anthems like Jimmy Jazz? - but we digress).

Prior to signing their record deal, trumpet/keyboard player Henry Clark made a living as a coroner's assistant. "Midway through a practice I'd be called-out," he says. "Picking [corpses] off railway tracks."

Thankfully, such morbid experiences haven't translated to The Rumble Strips' current single Motorcycle, a glorious collision of full-pelt guitars and Dexys-style brass flourishes. Have a listen here. Still want more? Go and have a look on bloody Myspace.
