Wonderful to see Arcade Fire nominated for Best Live Act - they stole the summer festivals!

Posted by Edward Tory at 02:06AM | September 13, 2007

The Killers deserve it all! Especially best live act :)

Posted by Parmis Ehsani at 03:22AM | September 13, 2007

Muse should win best live award again this year.Their live shows are amazing (especially Wembley Stadium which they played twice in June) They constantly tour and have headlined loads of festivals again this year.

Posted by ash at 07:55AM | September 13, 2007

Ruby is my choice for best video.

Posted by Creyson at 08:11AM | September 13, 2007

Kaiser Chiefs Yours Truly Angry Mob for album of the year. Its great album. Way better than Arctic Monkeys second one.

Posted by Reggie at 09:29AM | September 13, 2007

Bjork deserves to win!

Posted by Michael at 11:04AM | September 13, 2007

No way do The Killers deserve best Live Act! Nor Kaisers Best Album; I really liked Employment and Ruby is a great single, but there are just too many average songs on the new one to be a great album.

Would like to see Arcade Fire or Muse win Best Live, and best album for me is Arcade Fire

Posted by Joe at 11:14AM | September 13, 2007

Muse should win every nomination. They are simply the greatest band on the planet - why isn't Black Holes and Revelations up for best album? Is it too old?

Posted by Ed Whyatt at 11:21AM | September 13, 2007

Manics all the way. The best and most original band on that list by far.

Posted by Sophie at 11:50AM | September 13, 2007

The Enemy for best new act!!!

Arctic Monkeys for Best Act and Album- they are awesome!

Posted by simon miller at 12:15PM | September 13, 2007

It was a great night at the Indigo2, all the bands were excellent especially the Manics and Hard-Fi.

I think all the nominated acts are good and everyone I voted for got nominated, so I'm well happy!

Posted by Deb Highfield at 12:59PM | September 13, 2007

only ONE nomination for Bjork? she should have at least five!

Posted by gunx at 01:57PM | September 13, 2007

Single of the Year is disappointing... only Knights of Cydonia deserves to be there. Ruby is poor, Manics is a sympathy vote, Hard-Fi is only just out and no way one of THE best of the year and same applies to Athlete (except Hurricane is really quite poor). No 'Heavyweight Champion of the World'? No 'Our Velocity'? No 'Fluorescent Adolescent'?

Really poor selection

Posted by Martin at 02:24PM | September 13, 2007

What's the difference between 'New Act' and 'Breakthrough'?

Posted by Martin at 02:31PM | September 13, 2007

Bjork for best video
Arcade Fire for best live act
Amy Winehouse or Arcade Fire for best album
The songs for best track aren't great at all

Posted by Stephen at 02:47PM | September 13, 2007

i think the killers should win it all because they rock my socks. they are just amazing and junk and the other bands cant compare.

Posted by reggie at 02:50PM | September 13, 2007

Manics should win Best Song & Album.
U2 to win Best band in The World Today.

Posted by Adrian at 02:55PM | September 13, 2007

Mika should be best breakthrough Act.
Bones should be best Video.

Posted by Adrian at 02:58PM | September 13, 2007

Disappointed that Kasabian are only nominated in 1 category. They've had a great year. Fingers crossed that they win best live act. Saw them live in Glasgow last week. One of my top gigs, without a doubt!

Posted by Sharon at 04:17PM | September 13, 2007

Björkkkkkkkk!!!
it´s the best Video!!!

Posted by Sandra at 04:24PM | September 13, 2007

Pigeon Detectives For best new act!!!

Posted by Chris at 04:55PM | September 13, 2007

How the bloody hell is Prince not up for best live act. I've seen all of the ones that are nominated this year live, and he blows them all out of the water. The aftershow party I went to the other day was amazing!

Posted by Ray at 05:09PM | September 13, 2007

Well all in all it seems like a decent list, apart from when i hit the bottom and read that U2 are up for greatest band in the world today...they havent even done anything this year! I sincerely hope you remove them from this list and replace them with someone more deserving like Arcade Fire

Posted by Nick Hodgson at 05:19PM | September 13, 2007

Kasabian to win best live act!!! They are the best!!!

Posted by Caroline at 05:20PM | September 13, 2007

Actually i've changed my mind, the list is actually dreadful. Why do you have an act like Mika nominated for anything? (Apart from worst act, that wouldn't be such a tragedy). The Singles list is dreadful too, Athlete's single is no where near as good as singles released by Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, etc this year. I've actually noticed lately how crap Q is and how unbelievably mainstream it is these days, i think someone needs to have a total rethink.

Muse deserve without any doubt, to win everything they've been nominated for. They rule all. They put so much effort into their music and the results are breath-taking. Just awesome. I'll never ever get bored of them- they have created so many musical masterpieces and their music is so constantly phenomenal.
Definitely should win best act in the world today- best band ever. And-oh my god- best live act- no question. Their live music is even better than it is on record, especially with Matt Bellamy's powerful and haunting voice. Go Muse!!!

Posted by Jazz at 10:42PM | September 14, 2007

The Killers should win all of the categories they've been nominated!!! They deserve it!!!! Although I wouldn't mind is Kaiser Chiefs won... The Killers RULE!!!

Arriba Björk!!!
Su video es el mejor y merece ganar.
Ánimo para esta musa de la música!

Posted by Estela at 01:41PM | September 16, 2007

I have to say this is quite disappointing.
Manic Street Preachers are the most underrated band in Britain.
They deserve to be up for best act in the world today.
It's absolutely ridiculous they're only up for 2 awards!
Please vote for them, they are the most deserving in the categories they have been nominated for.

Posted by Methadone Pretty at 04:55PM | September 16, 2007

How ridiculous.
How many stupid bands up there could have been replaced with those who deserve merit?
SORT IT OUT AND STOP TURNING INTO NME.
Q seems to have forgotten what good music is.

Posted by Methadone Pretty 2. at 05:13PM | September 16, 2007

Posted by Dinosaurio at 09:02PM | September 16, 2007

Posted by Leigh at 01:12PM | September 17, 2007

i think the killers should win all three categories they have been nominated for. They are the only band that I watch over and over again having taped all their concerts at the festivals this year, They are the best.

Posted by claire at 10:58PM | September 17, 2007

The Enemy were a great support act to the Manics and they deserve the 'Best Newcomer' nomination. Muse were great live but why have the Manics not been added into the 'Best Live Act' and Best Band in the World'. Have any of the Q staff ever been to watch how brilliant they are live? Go and see them on the December tour and you will see why there are so many Manics fans. Treat yourselves to an early Christmas present.

Posted by Jenni at 12:09AM | September 18, 2007

omg amy please grow up and get a life you are brilliant keep it going

I can't believe 30 SECONDS TO MARS is nowhere in these lists (like best new comer, best video, or best live act, etc). Well MAYBE NEXT YEAR YOU'LL UNDERSTAND... :)

Enjoy the Awards.

Posted by Peertje at 10:53AM | September 18, 2007

Message to Radio 1 - Please stop ignoring the wonderful Manic Street Preachers and get them back on your main playlist. It's disgraceful that You Love Alone wasn't aired more. Shame on whoever decides what gets played!

Posted by The Gutless Wonder at 01:41PM | September 18, 2007

For the lifetime achievement award, I believe it should go to GARY NUMAN who still constantly tours (and sells out) every year, is about to celebrate 30 years in the music business, and has had a major influence on alot of todays artists who have gone one to win awards. Please bear him in mind.

Posted by Wendy Stocks at 06:51PM | September 18, 2007

I reckon Gary Numan should be in thr unning for Life-time achievement. 30 year in business coming up, and is still recording and touring. His influence, on many many ,many new act's is immeasurable,

Posted by Stevie K. Farnaby at 09:12PM | September 18, 2007

The Killers rocks! they are nominated in almost every category. I really do agree with "Brits do it better" but the Killers is the exception.

Posted by meng at 10:31AM | September 19, 2007

Brandon Flowers is an annoying frontman in my opinion. Why does he always act like he's got an electric charge running through him? Not a patch on James Dean Bradfield who is far more talented and better looking as well.

Posted by The Gutless Wonder at 10:48AM | September 19, 2007

Kaiser Chiefs!!!
Best Album
Best Video
Best Track!!

Posted by Justine at 12:21PM | September 19, 2007

Posted by Tash Wilson at 12:30PM | September 19, 2007

Gary Numan should be up for a lifetime achievement award,as he still gigs every year, often to a sell out audience,he is about to celebrate 30 years in the music business and he has influenced many of todays bands who have gone on to win awards of their own....I think he really deserves it

Posted by sophie at 04:47PM | September 19, 2007

Gary Numan gets my vote for a Lifetime Achievement Award: 30 years in the music business; tours every year to sell out audiences; new album in the making; is a major influence to many of todays pop and rock bands; he's a thoroughly nice bloke!

Posted by andrew jones at 05:46PM | September 19, 2007

ya, gary numan def should be in for a lifetime achievement award! loved him from day one! And he's still going strong, gigging and recording, and moving with the times, and still creatively enthused... I say lifetime achievement, tops for Numan!

Posted by michael abraham at 09:36PM | September 19, 2007

If Muse dont win Best Live Act and the Manics dont win best album then there is something seriously wrong with this world. What a tragedy that Kaiser Chiefs are nominated for three awards, they really are a poor and uninventive band. And how on earth can the Killers and Arctic Monkeys be even close to be considered the best band in the world on the back of two albums apiece? They should still be nearer the breakthrough category

Posted by Greg Sims at 07:19AM | September 20, 2007
