Reverend And The Makers: exclusive album track

It’s all falling into place for Reverend And The Makers - aka Sheffield firebrand John McClure - ahead of the release of debut album The State Of Things on 17 September.

Current single He Said He Loved Me Is proving to be almost as ubiquitous as all-conquering debut Heavyweight Champion Of The World. Meanwhile, after a string of brilliantly lairy interviews, McClure is blossoming into a motormouth quote-machine in the Liam Gallagher mould.

He’s already called Johnny Borrell a “bell-end” and likened himself to a modern-day Bob Marley. Q spent last weekend with him in Ibiza and his self-belief was truly startling. The goal of Reverend And The Makers, apparently, is to foment a global “revolution of the mind.” You can’t accuse the man of lacking ambition.

Perhaps that’s why he’s already been approached as a potential collaborator by Damon Albarn, Massive Attack and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

But is the music any good? Happily, you can decide for yourself because we’ve got an exclusive track from The State Of Things. It’s called Armchair Detective and you can listen to right here. Enjoy.

Special mention ought to go to Mike Hughes, vocalist of fellow Sheffield band Little Ze, who features.

Reverend and the makers are class. I'm not suprised if they are the new Kaiser Chiefs (The whole I Predict a Riot Movement, but with Heavyweight Champion of The World)

I ve tried to contact Reverend a few times through their website without even so much as a reply as I feel I have some good raw material they could develop. To go forward and be really big they need good material otherwise they will end up a one deal wonder
