Track Of The Day

Not quite Londoners, Letters From London actually hail from Gravesend, Kent, but like other one-time suburbanites such as Brett Anderson and Pete Doherty, they exhibit an out-of-towner’s fascination with the big smoke – note Little Vagabond’s fetishistic references to “Chelsea smiles” and living “in the gaps between street-lamps”.

Inveterate indie scenesters (they run a club night called Dancing Shoes And Skinny Ties), they’ll slot neatly into the post-Libs vogue for all things rakish and London-centric, while singer John Sterry’s easy, Luke Pritchard-esque vocals should make them a shoo-in for some One Night Only-style Radio 1 action when, inevitably, they get snaffled up by a major label.
