Little Lost David – ‘Hour Of Need’

Little Lost David – aka 26-year-old singer-songwriter David Roch – is the latest striking talent to emerge from Sheffield. His current demo was produced by Alan Smyth, who’s also done studio time with Arctic Monkeys and Reverend And The Makers, and serves up an attention-grabbing mix of the confessional, low-key melodies of a Tom McRae with baroque arrangements that wouldn’t shame Rufus Wainwright. That his aching voice is a match for either helps no end, and in the lovely Hour Of Need he’s crafted an exquisite torch song.
