Part musician, part freedom fighter, Manu Chao is that rare thing: a politically motivated artist who puts his money where his mouth is. A former member of French punks Mano Negra, Chao is now a solo star around the world thanks to four solo albums that contain a ramshackle blend of folk, punk and world music. He's also a tireless champion of the underdog, known for his guerrilla gigs and impromptu fund-raising, most recently on a trip to Buenos Aires to help out a local psychiatric hospital, which you can read about in the current issue of Q magazine.
