Traditionally, Glastonbury New Talent ends with just one unsigned band being picked to play Glastonbury. This year, however, the standard was so high judges picked two winners, psychedelic punk-funkers Golden Silvers (pictured) and Mancunian nu-folk troupe The Travelling Band.
The finals, which saw twelve bands competing to win the favour of a judging panel that included festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, took place 29-30 March at the Working Men's Club in Pilton, near Glastonbury. Golden Silvers and The Travelling Band will both now perform a set on one of the main stages at this year's festival.
Emily Eavis said: “The judges were impressed with all 12 acts and I think quite a few of them will get slots at the festival. In the end, though, it came down to our two winners, who were impossible to choose between. The Travelling Band totally won the room over with their gorgeous Americana and Golden Silvers struck everyone with their originality and amazing harmonies. I can't wait to see them both at the festival."
