Top 5: Onstage Fights

Guns N' Roses – St Louis Riots, 1991
The mother of all onstage fights? When Axl Rose jumped into the crowd at the Riverport Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri to confront somebody illegally filming the concert, he couldn't have imagined the scale of the consequences of his actions. What began as a tussle in the mosh triggered a riot that, like Rose's ego some years on, would spiral rapidly out of control.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre – The Viper Rooms, Los Angeles, 1996
Anton Newcombe's volatile mood swings have been the source of many interesting interviews and live performances. On stage, his controlling nature has lead to numerous bust-ups, though none more crucial than this, a showcase in LA which would have landed them a big figure, major label deal had everything gone smoothly. It didn't.

Ian Brown – Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, 2005
We're not quite sure what started this one off, but it all gets nasty pretty quickly. As one of the venue's security guards gets into a tussle with Brown, his bandmates are quick to drag the man down and away. More punches and kicks ensue, before it gets broken up. All a little over the top!

Nirvana –Bleach tour, sometime in 1988/9
Another fight, another security guard. Having launched himself and his guitar into the crowd, the Nirvana frontman unwittingly smacks a bouncer type across the head with his instrument. Needless to say, the chap wasn't too happy and attacks Cobain from behind as the singer returns to the stage. Carnage ensues.

Iron Maiden – Location and date unknown
Less a scrap than a hilarious stand-off. Somebody in the crowd annoys then Iron Maiden singer Blaze during a performance of The Trooper. Cue mad eyed stares from Blaze during the song, followed by a profanity-filled outburt at the end. "Anyone else?" he asks menacingly? Not us, thanks.

Hello from Texas!About the Iron Maiden incident,it happened again in San Antonio,Tx on March 15,1996.It was a sold out show but then again it was in a club.Blaze came across as someone who was better than Bruce and wasn't shy about telling people that.Anyway close to the end, someone threw something at Blaze. He threw down his microphone and starting to go down to the people.Believe it or not,Nicko follow him too because he was pissed off too!!Overall it was a good show but Blaze did came across like he doing Iron Maiden a favor by singing for them!UP THE IRONS!!

That could not have been the bleach tour(1988/9) as you can see Dave Grohl is in the picture. Grohl was still touring with Scream then and joined Nirvana in 1990 when Cobain and Novoselic went to see his band in Seattle and asked him to join them because of the backing and the money Geffen was throwing around at the time......

I love the way Axl holds onto his hat as he jumps. He means business!
