Holly Jazz Lowe must know what it’s like to have everything taken away from you at the last minute. She was signed to Mercury Records when she was just 17. They were meant to release her debut album but at the last minute someone pulled the plug and it never happened. Now, six years later and under the moniker Like A Thief, Lowe is ready to unleash her musical compositions onto the world.
The next you'll hear about her is The Hours We Kept, her second single, an uptempo, piano-led number that bops along with spritely steps. Jazzy breakdowns in the background merging with a more poppy, melodramatic tune with more indie sensibilities.
Fiercely independent – no doubt a result of her experiences with a major label – the Scarborough-born artist will release her next single through Stonetrax. Over a jilting rhythm Lowe’s husky voice evokes the ever changing nature of the world, while asserting her – both in real life and within the song – as a confident, assertive woman who knows what she wants and how, after disappointments in the past, how to go about getting it.
