Well - interesting line up, i'm looking forward to seeing the other stages, probably not the best Glasto line-up - but hey it means we can all spend more time doing making those stone sculptures... not.

Posted by JC at 06:33PM | April 28, 2008

utter boolacks, thank god its glastonbury and not reading or leeds where id have to watch the bands and there is sweet FA to do

Posted by Kieran McGrath at 07:02PM | April 28, 2008

yipee massive attack, manu chao and groove armarda..glad there are some good bands playing after all

Posted by emma at 10:32AM | April 29, 2008

I'm completely under-whelmed. There are 300 bands on this line-up that have a sound that is completely indistiguishable from the generic indie nonsense that pervades the UK music scene at the moment. Thank god for Squarepusher and Eat Static, the only innovators on the line-up.

Posted by Mark at 12:05PM | April 29, 2008

Well thats absolutly rubbish, maybe 3 acts who i would watch (Groove armada massive attack booka shade). Is it me or is glast getting worse every year as it comes more and more mainstream. Bring back Orbital, Prodigy, Underworld, Leftfield and co

Posted by the hitcher at 12:42PM | April 29, 2008

Thank God I didn't buy tickets, eh readers?

Posted by Johnny23 at 12:44PM | April 29, 2008

It's far too mainstream. I would like a refund.

Posted by Mark at 01:18PM | April 29, 2008

Well this is the worst line up in the past 12 years that I've been going. I wonder if I can get a refund? Plus, last year Emily and Michael Evis blatantly abused the Glasto faithful by saying we weren't very lively so they'd book more bands to get the kids in this year..... Yep, well done guys, plenty of new up and coming bands in that lot...erm not. Even the ethics of the John Peel stage have been lost by putting on bands on their 3rd or 4th albums. I thought that was the new bands stage????!!!!! If I can't get a refund I'm going to wait until the week before, find out what the weather is going to be like and then if it's raining I'm not bothering. I'm not standing in the rain again to watch that lot.

Posted by Rob at 01:39PM | April 29, 2008

Has the V festival started booking the bands for Glastonbury or something? What's going on, with only a couple of exceptions it's just a load of middle of the road nonsense. How disappointing. :(

Posted by Richard at 01:46PM | April 29, 2008

yep and we can't even sell our tickets on ebay! i think glastonbury has become too large and extremely corporate.

roll on latitude..

Posted by jc at 01:51PM | April 29, 2008

I'm going get a ticket for T in the Park. At least there's some real bands, bands with balls, at that festival.

I'm very disappointed.

Posted by Mark at 01:56PM | April 29, 2008

if i wasnt workin there i wouldnt bother..
better festivals , with better line ups..
EMILY WAKE UP AND GET SOME HELP, ADVICE. FOR GODS SAKE

Posted by R katun at 02:07PM | April 29, 2008

thank goodness most of you don't appear to be going, more room for the rest of us who don't take ourselves too seriously. i can't wait - roll on shaky and jay z!

Posted by Kirstie at 02:08PM | April 29, 2008

Well said Kirstie - thank god you lot won't be there, so we don't have to listen to your whining! And what's all this talk that line-ups are better elsewhere? Bar a few exceptions such as Muse, Maximo Park and Rage against the Machine, all the other festivals have almost identical line-ups with the same bunch of bands doing the rounds....

Posted by Rex T at 02:28PM | April 29, 2008

Glad Im not going!!

Shocking line up, completely boring and Im middle aged!!

Roll on the other festivals instead

Posted by amanda at 02:32PM | April 29, 2008

it sounds like some have you have been before but completely missed the point. whatever happened to the festival spirit? although i agree the lineup is less than impressive compared to previous year’s, i'm happily looking forward to seeing a different side to glastonbury rather than the usual camping out all day in the pyramid or other stage fields. i may be wrong, but isn’t there something like 49 stages this year? i’m sure everyone will have a great time so long as you go with right attitude. i can't wait for five days of fun at the happiest place on earth. if you're just after big name acts and not interested in all the other things glastonbury has to offer, then you'll always be better off at V or Reading.

Posted by Rhys at 02:43PM | April 29, 2008

for god`s sake what is wrong with you people. what other festival offers so much? i am very glad you will all be getting ripped off at v. why bother posting comments at all when you should all just be congratulating each other on how cool you all are cos you know a shit band that no-one else `mainstream` has ever heard of.

Posted by nige at 03:06PM | April 29, 2008

Well said Rhys. Apart from anything else I'm not really sure why you're all moaning about something you're not going to. Are you trying to make us ticket holders feel like we're being done out of something? When I'm sitting at the stone circle with a lung full of laughing gas waiting to walk past loads of random acts of weirdness to see Fun Lovin Criminals followed by a whole night of entertainment I'll be thinking of you all.

Posted by Perce at 03:09PM | April 29, 2008

i'm with you Perce... but where can i get hold of laughing gas?!! mushrooms aside, i'd love a zoot on some nitrous oxide!!

Posted by jack at 03:52PM | April 29, 2008

Haha, im getting excited about this now, i dont know what half the people here are talking about, there must be something for everyone at glasto this year!
Cant wait for Squarepusher, Caspa and Rusko, Appleblim, Skream and Benga, plus its not completely about the music, what about all the funny moments and stories and randomness that is a huge part of glastonbury!
Im lloking forward to it anyway.

Posted by Lee at 03:52PM | April 29, 2008

No wonder tickets still available, maybe 3 or 4 acts I'd pay to see, thats a lot of filling in over 3 days, Ms Eavis your taste is unbelievably poor and it is selfish to impose it on so many. Good luck Kidstockers

Posted by Bernie at 04:05PM | April 29, 2008

my 13th glastonbury, and i always say every glastonbury is different, so many things and experiences to be had than watching some over hyped, over-rated bands. The glastonury line up is one of the most diverse line up (not just musical) of any festival on the planet, that's why visiting glastonbury is not like visiting another town, or another city , or even another country, it's like visiting another planet. Role on June..

Posted by Brian Barnes at 04:10PM | April 29, 2008

Well that has to be the most uninspiring lineup ever.. Where are Portishead, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Rage Against the Machine.. Wish I had took the gamble and went for Reading, TinThe Park or even latitude looks better.. Thank god for the STONED CIRCLE for some real entertainment...

Posted by mcfish1972 at 04:14PM | April 29, 2008

CHRIST did I see James Blunt and The Feeling!!?!?1 WTF? Who booked the bands this year my mother?
I accept there is a lot more to do at Glasto than see bands but for £160 I would atleast like to be excited about one band... WHERES NEIL YOUNG????????

Posted by ADRIAN at 04:17PM | April 29, 2008

I would liked to have seen more DnB talent as well. Subfocus, Die and Clipz will rinse it, as always, but it would have been good to see some more big name DnB DJs.

Pendulum have become far too commercial, which is a shame as they used to write storming tunes.

I know it will be great, but I also see why peop[le are complaining as the ticket price has not been reflected in the quality of the bands that have been booked, when compared to other fests (T in the Park has a supreme line up this year).

Anyway, see you all there, I'll be the one mashed up in the Dance Village ;-)

Posted by Mark at 04:54PM | April 29, 2008

oh my god my first ever glasto what a dissapointment

Posted by ted at 05:12PM | April 29, 2008

Awesome Line Up!!!
Couldn't be better

Posted by Bennetts at 05:32PM | April 29, 2008

WTF are you lot moaning about!? If your not going - why do you care anyway!
There are LOADS of fantastic bands there! and so what if they are "mainstream"!! Since when does that make the bad?! What other festival can do better than that?!
I am sooo excited, and those who arnt going - stop moaning and ruining our excitement! x

Posted by clocho at 06:34PM | April 29, 2008

oh why are you all moaning?!
I think the line up's great!
Glasto is the mother of all festivals, you don't go just for the music,it's the experience!
I don't know about anyone else who IS going but I'm rather excited! :D

Establishment
Yawn

Posted by John at 07:41PM | April 29, 2008

Sunday on Ptramid stage is just the worst.......Leonard Cohen as second last act on pyramid stage next ot the verve ----WTF , do me a favour and get someone booking some decent bands. We pay £165 to see top bands not old codgers who were crap even when they were supossed to be something 40 years ago.......maybe I miss the onelty factor but I don't like wasting money on crap lineups

Posted by bob at 08:22PM | April 29, 2008

The line-up's so-so. Some great acts in the park and the other more random stages (Pyramid's always pretty dodgy if you ask me). What is terrible though is the number of artists' names spelled wrong. DERRICK May, TROJAN Sound System, EDDY Temple Morris, SIMIAN mobile disco, Candy STATON (Candy Station?! WTF?). Or am I the only who cares about such trivialities?

Posted by MissEmbellina at 08:53PM | April 29, 2008

My mum would love (some of) this line up....she's 86...she won't be going either...isn't it about this time this festival went to bed with a nice cup of cocoa, and could someone please turn off the lights?....

Posted by JulieB at 12:12AM | April 30, 2008

Mmmhhh.....I thought Melvin Benn (festival republic), and live nation, and the mean fiddler didn't have anything to do with programming???!!!......I want a refund....this is outrageous!!!

Posted by Gerry at 12:16AM | April 30, 2008

whats the crack here why are you being so negative glasto is there for experience and class music plus jay-z and fatboy slim
rock so much

Posted by Aidan Butler at 10:55AM | April 30, 2008

There's a negative response because £160x135000 = £20 million.

I would like to know why there are no major bands on the bill. None of the bands on the line-up will have cost a significant amount of money to book.

Posted by Mark at 12:18PM | April 30, 2008

the be there or be square vibe has gone now so we can just get down in the dirt now and enjoy it. Stop moaning you mardy children.

Posted by Bee at 08:44AM | May 1, 2008

eh OXFAM, wateraid, greenpeace? im fairly sure some of the money goes there? so im perfectly happy to support those organisations by buying my ticket. if you wanted to waste your money and get filthy go to oxegen or if you just wanted to see a massive act like muse go see them at wembley and stop whingeing.

Posted by Aoife at 11:12AM | May 1, 2008

Oh god, not enough to make this festival worth bothering with, why do Emily and Michael automatically assume they know what people want? It feels like they haven't put their homework in when it comes to market research, this lineup is for wankers, the majority of glasto goers aren't really wankers. I wish I could get a refund and go to Pukkelpop or SZiGET =(

oh well, massive attack, eat static and squarepusher will perform, I'll just have to get some really really hard drugs to get through the shite

Im pretty sure as well that 'the gerd damn corporations' have created a clone factory to produce indie bands that all sound the same but all play under different names and wear slightly different shades of pink and grey. FUCK THE NU INDIE BULL SHIT! Go back to school wombats.

Posted by Sam Ryan at 04:38PM | May 1, 2008

very poor quality bands thank god the enemy and the zutons will give some life to
the wet week end lineup.

Posted by jon at 05:53PM | May 1, 2008

RE: clocho ; easy coachella and the big chill

Posted by the hitcher at 07:23PM | May 3, 2008

I get to see so much more of the festival when the line up is average, the last time I stumbled upon the Magic Numbers playing to about 30 people in a tiny beer tent...roll on...it will be great....and sunny, please!

Posted by Leighton at 11:26PM | May 8, 2008

Mainstream Bobbins!
Just disapointed! What were they thinking?

Still, some target practice on Jay Z with a piss catapult!

Posted by Pucka Friest at 01:47PM | May 9, 2008

The Line-up up is okay, im looking forward to seeing Fun Lovin Criminals, The Verve and The Feeling. The only thing spoiling it is Jay-Z

Posted by Adam at 11:41PM | May 10, 2008

Pray for good weather because the bands are VERY middle of the road... Who is the massive band that was promised????

Posted by alfonso fatman at 10:50PM | May 22, 2008

Disappointed....
Glastonbury use to have the best line-up, you were spoiled for choice, who to watch.
This year - I can only see a couple of bands Id like to see and they arent big names..
So Michael & Emily why dont you surprise us all and announce a few more big names to the lineup...
No suprise that Tickets are still on sale in May???

Posted by Julie at 11:17PM | May 22, 2008

Anyone want to buy my ticket ?

Posted by Jayne at 11:21PM | May 22, 2008

Shakin Stevens ????

Posted by JON at 11:41PM | May 22, 2008

MICHAEL - Get Robbie Williams back on the stage ........

Robbie, Robbie, Robbie, Robbie, Robbie...

Posted by Julie at 11:50PM | May 22, 2008

Bit dissapointed as i ve paid so much for my ticket. Glasto is about diverse music true.. but it's getting more and more obvious that the organisers are starting to put profit first

Don t get me wrong, i m still going to make the most of the festival and try and enjoy it ... but they ve clearly budgeted on the line up this year... the capacity has increased, the facilities aren t improving yet the price has gone up to 160?!! Who can justify putting up the pice by an average of £15 a year?!! That's not inflation - that's just greed!!! I'd be surprised if they were increasing their charity donations in line with this every year.

Plus the food prices onsite £7-10 a meal - they re making a hell of a lot of money out of us when let s face it they could do much better with the line up - it's glastonbury!!

So sad to see it turning into a capitalist venture.... gonna try and have a good one but might make it my last

Posted by vord at 09:56AM | May 24, 2008

OMG people need to realise glasto is about more than the music, if your only going for the line up then dont bother! im glad that i dont want to see too many bands this year from the line up it'll give me more chance to explore maybe see the circus too! yay cant wait!

Posted by Jodie at 11:10PM | June 9, 2008

. . . Although i agree with vord!!
