New To Q: Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes - Sun It Rises

You can always rely on Washington State to produce some interesting music. Hot on the heels of neighbours such as Modest Mouse and Wolf Parade, Fleet Foxes have arrived with the blend of mystical folk. Sun It Rises is the first song on their forthcoming debut album. It’s an anachronistic piece of sunshine psychedelia, that flows gently with Beach Boys-esque harmonies and intricate, gentle guitar.
Having caused quite a stir at SXSW this year, the band are heading over to these shores for an extensive series of dates as part of a lengthy tour around the world. The summer months will be the perfect time to see the band play their soothing, slightly trippy songs – though perhaps not from inside a dank, sweaty venue. Still, Fleet Foxes will certainly bring a little sunshine into your world – all the more important if this summer doesn’t live up to the promise of the last few days.
