Q Radio has changed. We are building on the success we have already achieved but are taking the station to a completely different level. Out goes the ‘jukebox’ format; in has come a new schedule with an exciting roster of presenters and programmes.
You could being to hear the results for the first time on June 2 when the new Q Radio launched at 6pm with the new flagship live and interactive QPM show. Presenter Samanthi opened the show with Rocks by Primal Scream.
In addition to Freeview and online, Q Radio is also now available on DAB digital radio in London (to access the service on DAB you will need to rescan or auto-tune your DAB radio which only takes a matter of seconds).
Q Radio has lined up an impressive roster of presenting talent with established names alongside up-and-coming talent:
:: Making their radio debut will be DJ duo The Broken Hearts, bringing an eclectic playlist and a glamorous array of outfits.
:: Broadcaster and writer David Quantick whose varied credits include Brass Eye, Harry Hill’s TV Burp and Grumpy Old Men – will present a weekend show from his own unique perspective.
:: Rising comedy star Russell Kane hosts a two hour programme mixing comedy, music and guests.
:: Established names such as Ugly Phil and Eddie Piller will have their own slots, while the Q Mix will be hosted by a different guest artist or DJ each week.
Weekday shows will be presented by upcoming talents Mark Somers, Adam Catterall and Lynsey Hooper, but at the heart of the schedule will be former XFM presenter Samanthi’s QPM which will be where you can hear interviews and performances from big name bands. Already for the first week on air we have an interview with Coldplay to be aired at 7pm on Monday (June 2), as well as sessions lined up with Futureheads (Wednesday) and Kids In Glass Houses (Thursday).
Ric Blaxill, Q Radio programme director, said: “We’re delighted to have a Coldplay interview in the first show which coincides with them being cover stars of the next issue of Q Magazine.
“Q Radio will be about delivering some welcome surprises with a broad palette of music, comedy and lifestyle programming and with new names finding a home next to established talent. I’m delighted to be giving The Broken Hearts their radio debut next to stalwarts such as David Quantick and Eddie Piller.”

How about Panic by The Smiths.
Because the music that they constantly play says nothing to me about my life. Hang the DJ indeed!
