It’s only just over – but now Michael Eavis has revealed that Glastonbury-goers will be able to reserve tickets for next year in just a matter of weeks.
Fans will will able to place a £50 deposit to keep their place in October, six months before the tickets officially go on sale. Around 100,000 will be available to reserve from that date.
The revamped arrangements follow the sluggish sales for this summer’s event which only just sold out as the festival was under way.
Organiser Michael Eavis told BBC Somerset said the changes were being introduced because of confusion surrounding the sale of this year's tickets. With more competition on the festival circuit, the idea is to put the tickets on sale prior to many of the other events to avoid problems.
Mr Eavis is anticipating a high take-up rate for the 2009 event: "Everybody wants to come - everywhere I go people say 'oh we should've been there and we're so fed up about it' because it was so good.
Fans who have reserved tickets will pay the rest of the fee on April 1. If they decide they no longer want to attend at that point, they will forfeit £10.
It is unlikely there will be another hip-hop headliner for 2009, despite the success of Jay-Z. "We'll probably be going for the more traditional headliner next year because there are more of them around and after this year everyone wants to come onboard because it was such a good do,” Mr Eavis said.
