Track of the day: dEUS

dEUS - Eternal Woman
It became a standing joke as a bit of pub banter to challenge drinking mates to think of a five famous Belgians, but musically it has often been fairly easy to push up the total. Throw in one-hit wonder Plastic Bertrand, together with jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, the singing nun and Jacques Brel and you are well on your way. More contemporary fare could include Soulwax, but probably the most consistent and long-faring act of the past couple of decades has been rock act dEUS. With an eclectic palette, the Antwerp-based band have absorbed anything from prog, metal and jazz into their sound.

Eternal Woman is taken from the band’s most recent album Vantage Point (astonishingly only their fifth when you consider that next year they mark their 20th year), and is a dreamy, string-bathed, harmony-rich beauty with an understated trebley, chiming acoustic guitar riff.

The track is the five-day favourite on Q Radio’s daily QPM show with Samanthi and you can also hear it here
